The Jazzmaster Ultra is an overdue reimagining of the model. And in truth, it feels a little more intuitive than a four-way. As you’d expect, we get the same neck profile and the same additional heel shaping as our Strat. Position 5, in both modes, is the same solo neck pickup, too. Using the Hot Noiseless pickup design for the neck will give you warm, charming and punchy tone with a bluesy feel all over it. The Elite had some great switching options, but it was actually difficult to remember what they were, so here we’re trying to make it more user-friendly, more intuitive. And thanks to Fender's state-of-the-art Noiseless design, the clean, full sound is free of hum. Luminously Luxe Got a set of 3 Fender Noiseless pickups in my Malmsteen strat and they are smooth as silk when a slow blues starts to burn, and have plenty of a well-defined bite when the volume goes up. Our Strat measures 20.7mm at the 1st fret and 22.2mm at the 12th; our Tele is virtually identical at 20.9mm and 22mm, which would indicate that little has changed, perhaps just a slightly fuller shoulder in lower positions. I also own a 1996 Strat Plus with Lace Sensor pickups, a 2002 American Deluxe Stratocaster with Vintage Noiseless pickups and a 2004 American Deluxe Ash Strat with Samarium Cobalt noiseless pickups. I know some feel that they're not true Tele-sounding, but I wouldn't know so I'm not complaining! The neck profile is the same across the series, Modern D.
